(Kuala Lumpur, 14 October) — In conjunction with the Pink October women's health awareness campaign, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) will organise the Pink October Breast Health Carnival from 19 to 24 October at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS). The six-day event will feature breast health screenings, blood donation, health talks, educational sharing sessions and fun interactive activities to raise public awareness of women's health, breast health and cancer prevention.

Held under the theme “Know, Screen, Act,” the carnival will run daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The event is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants, with a registration fee of RM10 per person.

12 Health Product Booths Available

The World Public Welfare Alliance Foundation (WPWAF) is one of the supporting organisations for the event. The foundation will participate in community welfare initiatives and health education activities to help promote greater public health awareness.

As part of the carnival's programme, NCSM will be responsible for women's breast health screenings and blood donation activities, while WPWAF will coordinate and organise traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) health assessments and therapy, health product exhibitions and sales, as well as handicraft experiences. These activities aim to provide the public with access to a wider range of health information and encourage a better understanding of the importance of health management.

The event is organised by the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the Ministry of Transport Malaysia. Supporting organisations include NCSM, Pink Unity, the Civil Defence Force, the Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance Malaysia (NCD Malaysia), WPWAF, the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS), TMAS and Share Share.

In conjunction with the carnival, few more health product booths will be made available to interested businesses to showcase and sell products related to women's health, personal care and general wellness. The initiative aims to promote healthier lifestyles while providing the public with more information about relevant health and wellness products.

Rich Voon: Take an Active Interest in Your Health

WPWAF President Rich Voon said that women's health is an essential component of overall community well-being. He expressed hope that the Pink October Breast Health Carnival would raise public awareness of breast health and cancer prevention, encourage women to take an active interest in their health, and remind them to seek professional medical advice whenever necessary.

He emphasised that promoting health awareness should not be the responsibility of healthcare institutions alone. Social organisations, businesses and the public must also work together to achieve this goal. Through this event, the foundation hopes to bring together various stakeholders and combine health education with community welfare services, allowing more members of the public to benefit from these initiatives.

Yao Yuzhu Calls for Greater Public Participation

WPWAF event planning representative Yao Yuzhu said that the carnival is not only a platform for promoting women's health awareness but also an important opportunity to integrate health education with community welfare services.

She explained that she will represent the foundation in planning and coordinating traditional Chinese medicine health assessments and therapy, health product exhibitions and sales, and handicraft experience activities. She will also maintain close communication with the event organisers and other supporting organisations to ensure the smooth implementation of the programmes under WPWAF's responsibility. She added that the foundation hopes to use the carnival as an opportunity to help the public access more health information and strengthen their understanding of health management and disease prevention. She also welcomed WPWAF members, volunteers and relevant businesses to participate actively and support the event. Through collective efforts and practical action, she hopes to further advance women's health education and community welfare services, enabling more people to benefit from these initiatives.

The organisers and supporting organisations warmly invite members of the public, volunteers, foundation members and interested businesses to participate in the carnival and contribute to the promotion of women's health education, cancer prevention awareness and community welfare services.
